2 approaches the dribbler as he nears half court. 1 drops toward the short middle. 4 starts moving toward ballside sideline. 5 starts moving toward the ballside. 3 moves to take away the deep middle.

As 2 pushes the dribbler up the sideline 4 moves up to establish the double team with 2.

There are two techniques to for the corner trap. FIRST: 5 moves out to take the ball. And 4 turns and moves to the corner to establish the trap with 5. This appears to leave the pass to the low post open, but it is quickly covered by 3 who drops down to cover the low ballside block. 2 covers the high post area, and 1 covers the back side. |

SECOND: 5, 4 and 3's duties are the same as in the first method. In the second method 2 cuts off the pass out of the trap and 1 covers the high post. |

On the skip pass out you have the option of moving into a regular half court defense or of staying in the trap STAYING IN THE TRAP: On the skip pass out of the corner the closest man covers the ball. In this case it would be 1. 3 moves toward the ball to the elbow area. 5 sprints across to cover the ballside low post area. 2 moves to the short middle area and 4 covers the backside. |

If 3 puts the ball on the floor 3 will move out and establish the double team with 1. And 2 covers the high post area.

If the ball on top is passed across from Triangle 1 to Triangle 2. 1 moves over and covers the ball. 2 now covers the short middle. 3 and 4 switch responsibilities and 5 moves over to cover the ballside low post area.
